I must've built somewhere in the region of forty websites since I started doing Web Development back in Wellington in '99. Things change though: Companies fold, people move on and url's point elsewhere. Consequently many of the sites I've had the pleasure of working on no longer exist.
The 16 sites you see here, not only still exist but represent those projects over which I had major or complete responsibility.
GeoNet provides real-time monitoring and data collection for rapid response and research into earthquake, volcano, landslide and tsunami hazards. It is a collaboration between the Earthquake Commission and GNS Science.
Going live in mid-April 2007, the GeoNet website was a year in the making: Selecting and testing CMS systems (settled with Plone), documentation systems, design, technology, layout and all the rest of it.
Providers of wirelessly networked handheld PCs for audience/delegate interaction at conferences and meetings.
Phase 1 completion comprised a static site using PHPlIb templates and a simple form-email web form.
Phase 2 comprised a proprietary CMS being bolted on (phase one being designed with this in mind) and integrated with a WYSIWYG editor (editize) for RTF text editing.
A complete back and front end rewrite for the flagship product of Daryl Willcox Publishing.
The services that comprise FeaturesExec enable PRs to search and view publication, publisher and journalist information for editorial and advertising purposes, on behalf of their clients.
Among other functionality the site comprises:
* Brand new "Press Lists Express" system: PRs can search & build then save editorial contacts to 1 or more profiles, augmenting their existing press-lists.
* Multiple search methods for accessing publication, publisher and journalist contact/biographical information.
* Hugely revised interface.
* Completely multilingual (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish)
* Standardised the look and feel. It's now inline with other Daryl Willcox Publishing sites.
* W3C CSS2+XHTML 1.0 compliant.
How it used to look: http://web.archive.org/web/20040126042358/http://featuresexe...
A complete front and backend re-write comprising:
* Completely templated using PHPLIB
* Added the Freelance Journalist Directory
* Tailored content for PRs and for Journalists
* Addition of press release submission, search and display
* Standardised the look and feel to be more inline with its sister sites: sourcewire.com and featuresexec.com
The sourcewire.com revamp is the first major project I was commissioned to do for Daryl Willcox Publishing.
My brief was to drastically update and improve the user interface to the site's range of functionality. It had been three years since the site's inception.
The site now includes the following functionality:
* Freelance Journalists maintain their own details in the Freelance Journalist Directory
* PR Companies can be added to the PR company directory
* Hi-Tech Companies can be added to the Hi-Tech company directory
* Press Release auto-mailouts based on subscriptions
* Press Release submissions displayed on-the-fly
* News, Jobs and Events from Daryl Willcox Publishing are displayed on-the-fly
